Disney's
Polynesian Resort
We
stayed at the Polynesian Resort on December 19 & 20, 2003. We
were in building Tokelau in room 3936. The room was on the third
floor, and the view was of the garden area. The room was VERY spacious
and comfortable. This was the first time we stayed at the resort
as a couple. In the past, Glenn's family has stayed at the Polynesian,
so we knew what to expect. And since it was one of the original
Disney resorts, it reminds us of the glory days of Disney's past.
Here are some stats of the resort:
- Opening date: October 1, 1971 (construction
started 2/71)
- Address: 1600 Seven Seas Dr; Lake
Buena Vista, FL 32830-8423
- Phone: 407-824-2000
- 39 acres
- Rooms: 847 rooms in 11 two- and three-story
buildings. The resort was constructed using unitized modular construction
for the original guest longhouses. Rooms were built and fully-equipped
at an assembly facility four-miles away, then transported on flatbed
trucks to the construction site and lifted into the three-story
frames of the longhouses. Each room weighs about 8.5 tons. This
is the same construction method used in the building of the Contemporary
Resort.

- Electrical Water Pageant
- 9:00pm nightly
- Description: Originally presented
for the dedication of the Polynesian Luau on October 26, 1971,
the Electrical Water Pageant is presented nightly at the Magic
Kingdom Area Resorts. The pageant consists of two strings
of seven barges, each carrying a 25-foot-tall screen of lights
featuring King Neptune and creatures from under the sea in
an aquatic parade set to Disney music. The pageant concludes
with an inspirational salute to America, with Flags and Stars
set to a patriotic musical score.
- The Electrical Water Pageant was
the inspiration for the Main Street Electrical Parade that
premiered at Disneyland on June 17, 1972
